Accordions exist in various sizes and types for all age groups from around the age of 5. There are two main kinds of accordion, button accordions and piano accordions.
Students should start their studies on the button accordion and the studies are in compliance with The Icelandic National Curriculum Guide to Music Schools.
Smaller instruments can be rented from the school. At first, the student will play alone with their teacher but as they progress there will be a chance to play in an ensemble.

Halldór has taught the accordion for over 10 years, both in Akranes and the Capital Region. He studied with Guðmundur Samúelsson in Grafarvogur Music School and received an advanced diploma in 2012. Halldór has played with the Accordion Quintet in Reykjavík (Harmónikukvintettinum í Reykjavík) and has played in Nótan and Siglufjörður Folk Music Festival.
