Students of Tónlistarskólinn í Grafarvogi will perform the musical adventure “Peter and the Wolf” at the Children’s Culture Festival in Grafarvogskirkja on April 19th at 18:00. The piece tells the story of a boy named Peter who lives in the woods with his grandfather. Various dangers lurk in the woods, but Peter demonstrates great bravery in his battle against the fierce wolf. The composer of the work, Sergei Prokofiev, was born in Donetsk in 1891. He composed both the music and the script in two weeks in April 1936 for a children’s theatre in Moscow. Katrin Heymann translated the text from German to Icelandic, while the arrangement is by Hans-Günter Heumann. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome.
