The Reykjavík School of Music and the National Church Music School have joined forces to offer organ studies for young people in Reykjavík. The program will take place at Háteigskirkja under the direction of organist Guðný Einarsdóttir. This partnership offers students insight into the life of the church, the natural home of the organ and its traditions.

The school year has started off smoothly, with most students having finalized their permanent schedules with their teachers for the winter. Attendance in music theory is strong, and the preschool groups are nearly at full capacity. The number of vocal students continues to grow, marking a strong revival in singing culture.

The school’s spring concerts will take place at Grafarvogur Church this Saturday, May 9, at 11:00, 12:30, and 14:00. The program will feature a variety of ensemble pieces that students have worked on throughout the year, as well as solo performances. Looking ahead, the school has many concerts coming up. The preschool department will perform at spring festivals in their respective neighborhoods, and there will also be numerous concerts held in the school’s concert hall.
