There are around 80 music schools in the country, and approximately 14,000 students study within the music school system. The purpose of the harvest festival is to draw attention to the community of music schools and music students.
NÓTAN – the music schools’ harvest festival was first held in the 2009–2010 school year and is an annual event within Iceland’s music school system. It is organized by the Association of Music School Teachers and Administrators, the Association of Music School Directors, and the Icelandic Musicians’ Association.
The festival is both professionally motivating and an enjoyable contribution to school activities for all those involved, both within the schools and beyond.
