Joint Organ Programme in Reykjavík

The Reykjavík School of Music and the National Church Music School have joined forces to offer organ studies for young people in Reykjavík. The National Church Music School has operated since the establishment of the National Church’s Music Director office in 1941, drawing on decades of rich tradition and experience. The organ programme will take place at Háteigskirkja under the guidance of organist Guðný Einarsdóttir. She completed her organ studies at the National Church Music School and later at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Guðný currently serves as organist at Grafarvogur Church in Reykjavík and is also a department head at the National Church Music School. Throughout their studies, students explore organ literature spanning various periods and styles. Training also includes accompanying and leading congregational singing, as well as improvisation. This partnership offers students insight into the life of the church, the natural home of the organ andits traditions.
